​Gorham Sterling Ornament Frank Lewis collection  - 1975 Sterling Christmas Angel 1st Edition - The size of this ornament is about  4-1/2" High X 3" Wide.  This Gorham Ornament was designed by Sculpture-Artist Luther Bookout, and is considered a part of the Frank Lewis collection. Frank Lewis of the Ruby Red Grapefruit Mail order co. in Alamo Texas Commissioned Sculpture artist Luther Bookout, (who at the time was the producer of the catalog for Mr. Lewis) To design annual limited edition Christmas ornaments, to be made by Gorham Silversmiths.  This is  the First on the series and the most difficult to find of the five in the series.  The collection was sold by subscription only and was limited 9800 annually.  Subscribers were assigned on a "first come" basis, and would receive the same number each year.


Each ornament wieghs a full Troy ounce of Sterling Silver. This sterling ornament comes with original felt box.  The ornament is an estate piece and in Very Good condition.

The term "angel" has also been expanded to various notions of spiritual beings found in many other religious traditions.  Other roles of angels include protecting and guiding human beings, and carrying out God's tasks.

Gorham crafted the famous monument of George Washington for our nation's Capitol Rotunda, as well as the famous statue of Theodore Roosevelt - the last American president elected by popular mandate - outside the Museum of Natural History in New York.
